Listening to this lecture and someone just asked the lecturer why he dislikes Lord of the Rings but knows so much about 50 Shades of Grey.

I am simultaneously amused and horrified by his response, which was along the lines of being ‘open to disturbing things’.

I… that’s all well and good but it still honestly scares me how popular that book is. Even among people who can recognise that it’s terribly written.
